The Health Management/Quality Assurance (HM/QA) component of DISH worked with districts and sub-districts to improve the standards of care in health facilities, to strengthen support systems for achieving and maintaining quality services and to promote effective decentralisation these services by:

  • Improving procurement, distribution and storage of drugs and contraceptives
  • Strengthening the health management information system and its utilisation for improved planning and decision making
  • Improving supervision of health services and linking the supervision system with continuous quality improvement
  • Developing planning and management capacity in health sub-districts
  • Supporting improved approaches to health care financing
